About the Baha'i Faith Index
Bahaindex.com is a search engine and portal focusing on the Baha'i Faith, both for Baha'is and for those wishing to learn more.
This site has been around since 1995.
This site does not purport to represent the official views of the Baha'i Faith. Please visit bahai.org for the official site of the Baha'i International Community.
The Baha'i Faith Index is also listed in The Complete Idiot's Guide to Religions Online by Bruce B. Lawrence, Alpha Books.
The Bahá'í Faith Index covers the Bahá'í Faith for the World Wide Web Virtual Library, the web's original links catalogue. I also maintain the Virtual Library's Religion section, called Facets of Religion.
Site History:
This site was started in September 1995 as a web page for the Baha'i Association at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, initially at http://prism.gatech.edu/~gt7642b, then http://prism.gatech.edu/~dsadmbha, and eventually at this current address.Soon after starting on it, however, it grew into more than a college club web page and into a large collection of links. Not knowing what to do with them, I began categorizing until I decided it was time to start a central site that collects all Baha'i links and presents them as a searchable directory. This became the core idea behind the Baha'i Faith Index. Over the years things were added, like an events calendar, auction area, chat rooms, and discussion boards. Up until now these had not been a great success, mainly because the various services did not allow for a single user ID to be used for the different services. This new version allows that, and as such this is now a true "portal" site. So sign up for a user account if you haven't already - you'll be able to save your favorite photos in the photo gallery, participate in discussions, submit link modifications, customize the front page to a degree, and the list goes on.
